Amazon Prime Day is a shopping holiday created by Amazon in July 2015. It’s held annually on the second Tuesday of July and is typically 36 hours long — but that may change next year!

Prime Day was created as an exclusive time to offer deals on Amazon products. It has become known for what it calls ‘lightning deals,’ limited-time sales that go fast. You can also find discounts on other items from third-party sellers who sell through the site.

Amazon Prime Day 2022 Results and Insights Amazon Product Sales Increase

Amazon Product Sales Increase

You might have heard that Amazon saw a 60% increase in sales over the course of Prime Day 2022. And while that figure is accurate, it’s not entirely representative of the whole picture.

The truth is that many Amazon sellers saw an increase in sales during Prime Day—but some saw a drop in sales. The overall effect on Amazon product sales was negligible: they increased by 6%.

The reason for this is that Amazon doesn’t sell a lot of products directly. Instead, it acts as a middleman between buyers and third-party sellers.

The best-selling item in this category was the Amazon Echo Dot (3rd generation), followed closely by its Kids Edition variant. The next three most popular items were all Kindle Paperwhites, which makes sense since they’re affordable and easy to use at home or on the go while traveling. Some of the best-selling items worldwide this Prime Day were premium beauty brands including LANEIGE and NuFACE; Apple Watch Series 7; diapers and wipes from Pampers and The Honest Company; kitchen essentials from Rachael Ray, Le Creuset, and Hamilton Beach; VTech and LeapFrog toys; Vital Proteins Collagen Whey; Levi’s apparel and accessories; Chemical Guys car wash products; and pet products from NUTRO, TEMPTATIONS, and GREENIES.

Amazon also had some smaller, more niche items on sale for this year’s Prime Day: The Fire TV Cube is an amazing gadget that truly brings your home entertainment system into the 21st Century. It allows you to control all TV elements with just one device – from switching channels and inputs to navigating menus and playing music.

  • Since Prime Day shopping began on July 12, select Fire TV, Echo, and Blink devices were some of the best-selling items on Amazon worldwide.
