How to Report Trademark Violations on Amazon: A Step-By-Step Guide to Protect Your Brand

If you’re selling on Amazon and your brand is being misrepresented, copied, or impersonated—Amazon provides a direct path for taking action. At BellaVix, we recently had to report a trademark violation on behalf of KaraMD, and we want to walk you through the process we followed.

Below is a step-by-step guide to report intellectual property infringements, including how to distinguish between different violation types.

Step 1: Identify the Violation

In our case, an unauthorized seller created a knock-off listing that imitated KaraMD’s flagship product, Pure Nature. The product was titled “Ka-ramd Unisex…” and used our trademarked name, identical imagery, and even advertised under branded keywords.

This creates two major risks:

  • Customers may believe they’re buying an authentic product when it’s not tested or GMP-certified.

  • Our trademark is being used to drive traffic to a fake product, which harms brand trust and sales.

Step 3: Select the Type of Infringement

Amazon offers three core options:

  • Trademark Infringement: Use this when your brand name, logo, or design mark is being used without authorization in a product title, images, or description.

  • Copyright Infringement: Applies when your creative content (e.g., images, text, video) is used without permission.

  • Patent Infringement: Relevant for products that are using your patented design or utility without a license.

In our case, the seller violated trademark rights by copying the name and imagery.

Step 3 Select the Type of infringement - Copyright, Patent, TradeMark

Step 4: Provide Supporting Brand & Trademark Info

Select the registered trademark from your brand’s IP portfolio in Amazon Brand Registry.

Step 5 - Additional Information for reporting and Trademarks being infringed

Choose the option:

  • “A product detail page is unlawfully using my trademark…”

Step 5: Describe the Issue in Detail

You’ll be asked whether the product exists in your brand catalog. If it doesn’t, select:
“Your brand’s authentic product is being imitated.”

Then write a clear, professional description of the violation. Here’s what we submitted:

The listing in question mimics our trademarked product, KaraMD Pure Nature. The seller is using our brand name, likeness, and image style without authorization. This creates a risk of customer confusion and could lead to consumers unknowingly purchasing a non-GMP certified product falsely associated with KaraMD.
