  • Amazon launched the Transparency badge to indicate that your product is authenticated by Transparency on Amazon stores, reassuring customers that they’re protected from buying counterfeit products. If you’re registered with Amazon Brand Registry and participate in Transparency, your qualifying ASINs will automatically receive the badge in the Additional details section on the Product Detail page.

  • If you sell standalone button cell and coin batteries, starting March 2, 2023, you’ll be required to prove that your products have child-resistant packaging and warning labels. Last August, the United States Congress passed Reese’s Law which introduced new child safety standards for all products manufactured after February 12, 2023, containing button cell and coin batteries.   • Federal Trade Commission took action today against a marketer of vitamins and other supplements called The Bountiful Company (Bountiful) for abusing a feature of Amazon.com to deceive consumers into thinking that its newly introduced supplements had more product ratings and reviews, higher average ratings, and “#1 Best Seller” and “Amazon’s Choice” badges. The FTC’s legal action against Bountiful is their initial move to address “review hijacking,” a strategy employed by marketers to take or use reviews of another item. According to the FTC, Bountiful executed this deceitful practice by joining its new products on Amazon with existing products that had higher ratings, reviews, and badges. As a result of FTC’s first case targeting review hijacking, The Bountiful Company will pay $600,000.

Amazon is Banning the Sale of Beta-Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN) Products

  • On March 13, 2023, Amazon will be banning the sale of beta-nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) products, as informed by the Natural Products Association (NPA; Washington, D.C.) in a letter from Amazon’s Restricted Products Team. This decision came after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) declared in November of 2022 that NMN was not a dietary ingredient and thus did not fit the criteria for over-the-counter sales.
