Walmart Opens Third-Party Seller Floodgates
- Sellers interested in joining the Walmart marketplace previously required Walmart’s approval. The button to start the application was even titled “Request to sell.” Last week, Walmart replaced it with a more welcoming “Join Marketplace” and streamlined the registration form. According to Marketplace Pulse research, nearly a thousand new sellers joined the Walmart marketplace each day of this week. Roughly four times more than before and almost as much as the Amazon marketplace in the U.S.
Amazon has opened the submissions for Lightning Deals and 7-day Deals for Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday Week
- Today Amazon has published a notification stating, “Submit recommended Lightning Deals and 7-day Deals for Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday Week for a chance to have your deal selected for Black Friday and Cyber Monday! You have until September 2nd (11:59 pm PDT) to submit recommended deals for Black Friday and Cyber Monday Week.” so better hurry up to submit the deals!
Negative Review Redress for Amazon Brand Owners
- Amazon have made it possible to address a negative review, defined as three or fewer stars on their marketplace. Brand owners can contact customers who have left critical reviews on their products with courtesy refunds or provide support directly through the Customer Reviews feature in Seller Central. Customer Reviews is available to brand owners under Brands tab on Seller Central. If you are a secondary account user, you’ll need to contact the primary account holder to request permissions through Settings > User Permissions > Manage Permissions > Advertising > Customer Reviews.
Introducing the Black-Owned Business Badge
- The Black-Owned Business badge will appear when the featured offer for a product in Search results and product detail pages is from a certified Black-owned business. Customers will also have the opportunity to visit the Black-owned business storefront. Learn more about the Black-Owned Business badge or upload a diversity certification.
Amazon Fulfillment Fees Up 30% in Two Years
- Amazon will charge sellers $5.06 to ship a 1lb item during the holiday season (October 15th-January 14th). The fee for fulfilling the same product in 2020 was $3.48; it has increased by 45%. Smaller items will be roughly 30% more expensive to fulfill, while large and heavy items will only be 20% more expensive. The fees will go down after the holiday season, but only to the current levels. Amazon has been slowly increasing them every year; thus, it is unlikely that they will ever decrease significantly, even when conditions that caused them to increase this year are no longer present.
Top Amazon Seller Packable Begins Liquidating and Announces Job Cuts After Failed SPAC Attempt.
- Packable, the parent company of top-ranking Amazon seller Pharmapacks, is laying off employees and ceasing operations, according to documents viewed by CNBC. The health and beauty product retailer was at one point the largest seller on Amazon’s third-party marketplace. Packable is liquidating after a failed effort to go public through a special purpose acquisition company.
